Video: DVD's read listen and SING

DVD's have been a great tool for my 7th-11th grade classes. With DVD's you can select English subtitles AND soundtrack. Forget slow romances, what the kids want to see is Disney cartoons and kids action flicks eg Home Alone, 2, 3. They convinced me to get Deep Blue Sea which has disgusting language, I dont care so much about the appendages being bitten off and blood spurting around but refuse to teach the "MF" word. The BEST cattoon is Tarzan, with four GREAT songs about growing up. The kids love singing "can you show me" "You'll be in my heart" "Two worlds one family" and "the power to be strong" "Reflections" from Mulan is also very good. Songs in the ESL classroom put some expression and rhythm into their monotone. And its fun .
