Textbooks: English in Everyday Life

I love the text English in Everyday Life by Prentice Hall Regent.
Although it is geared toward ESL students living in the United
states, it can be easily used as a cultural supplement to classes
overseas. I first bought this book as a "Teachers Edition" while
teaching in Korea. They now sell Students Books (divided into
Levels 1, 1a, 1b (for semesters), 2, 2a and 2b)as well as Teacher's
Guides.

Each book is divided into units: The classroom, The House,
The Community, Sports and Leisure, Etc. These units are divided
into 2-page "chapters" on topics such as "the living room," "medical
emergencies," "individual sports," and so on. Each has great
pictures, a word bank for new vocabulary with room to add more words,
pair work, group discussions, and role-play activities. I feel
that the vocabulary is very practical and the activities communicative.

The best thing is that this book can be used on almost any level,
adapting to levels from beginner to advanced. Even my high advanced
students find that often they lack practical vocabulary that is not
taught in many traditional EFL classes overseas.
