Spelling: Magnetic Spelling Race

This is a fun and cooperative activity. Students are placed in rows of 4 - 5. A basket of magnetic letters (cheaply bought at any dollar store) is on the ground. I call out a word. The first student runs to the basket and finds the first letter. The letter is placed on the white board. The second student finds the next letter. So on until finished. This is fun and eliminates the pressureof spelling the whole word. The first team to finish wins a point. The winning team gets to call out the words the next week.
