Speaking: Just a minute

This game is based on the Uk comidy game'Just a minute' I have started playing it with my class of Chinese nursing students. It encourages fluency and listening skills. The students Play in teams and each tame has a speaker for the round. The speaker changes every round. The person starting has to speak for 60 seconds on the topic given without hesitation, deviation or repetition. Select a range of topics to suit your class. I pick easy topics such as Ice cream, Taxis, etc.The rules are modified to suit the level of the G. hesitation is a pause of more that 1 second, repetition is repeating the whole phrase not just using the same word. It engenders a lot of fun and encourages the students to listen critically to each other.
