Christmas Game Idea: (Only works in a community where Christmas is celebrated)

Preparation: Cut up enough strips of paper so that each student in your class will have five each. Create a 4 column table on an A4 sheet of paper with the titles- Name, Gift, Guess, Right/Wrong. Make enough copies for half the class. Get a small prize/present for the winner of the game.

Step 1: Start with an introductory activity like singing a Christmas Carol or reading "Twas a Night Before Christmas"

Step 2: Pass out the strips of paper, 5 to each student.

Step 3: Tell Students to write their name on one side of the paper.

Step 4: Tell students to write the name of the gift that they want for Christmas on the first piece of paper. On the second piece, have them write one gift they received last year. On the third piece, write something they gave their mother. On the forth piece, have them write what they would give someone if they really loved them. On the final piece of paper, have students write down a gift their parents have given them.
STEP 5: Take all the strips, crumple them up, and throw them into a pile (on the floor or into a bag if the floor is inappropriate).

STEP 6: Put students into teams of two, and give each group a A4 copy of the table. Demonstrate that you want students to take a strip(not their own or their partners) and write down the name of the person and the name of the gift. Partners must 'guess' at who the gift was for( wants, last year, mother, lover or from parents). Once they have discussed and guessed, have them go back to the bag and choose another strip. Repeat. Continue until all tables are filled, or all strips are used up.

STEP 7: Students go to the names on the strips and find out the 'real' answers to the questions. For every correct guess, team gets a point. Team with most points wins the prize.

TIP: Pre-prepare a list of answers to the questions for yourself and have them written at random on your board. Then, when you demonstrate the activity, students can guess about your gifts and will get a practical practice before doing it with each other.

This is a fun lighthearted activity that generates lots of guessing and suprising 'mistakes' that need to be explained. Hope it works well for you!
