Food: Fabulous Food From Foreign Countries

Eugenie McAllister
I am new ESL teacher, so I am always trying to find new ways to have fun with my class and have them learn some English too. I had everyone bring in a recipe from their country written in English, as well as all directions for preparation in English. The next class period the students presented
their recipies to the class and we talked about food traditions in
their countries. For example what is the main stay of their native diet, when do they eat etc. The following night we had a party.
They all brought their recipe for the whole class to try and enjoy. We had food from all over the world, some wore their native clothing, and broght in native music. We had food, fun , and dancing until way past class time was over. The students thouroughly enjoyed the evening and keep asking when we are going to do it again. I have 14 different languages spoken in my class, so not only did they have fun, but they all had to spesk English in order to communicate.
