About Anonymous Giving
Anonymous Giving (Registered Charity No. 1215166) is a UK-registered charity committed to supporting vulnerable communities through humanitarian assistance, education and long-term development initiatives.
At Anonymous Giving, we believe that kindness speaks loudest when it asks for nothing in return. Our mission is to empower individuals to give freely, without recognition, so that the focus remains on those in need — not the giver.
We work to connect generosity with the causes and communities that need it most. From delivering humanitarian aid and supporting education to funding life-changing initiatives, our work is centred on making a meaningful difference.
When you give anonymously, you give purely — from the heart.
About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals from the United Kingdom who would be interested in volunteering as a Teacher or Teaching Assistant at our community school in Pallisa, Uganda.
This opportunity is particularly suited  to individuals who enjoy working with children, sharing knowledge and experiencing a different cultural environment while contributing their time and skills to a local community.
You will work alongside our local teaching staff, supporting classroom activities and contributing to the children's learning experience.
Your Responsibilities
Depending on your background, experience and interests, your activities may include:
Supporting English language and literacy lessons.
Assisting with mathematics, science and basic computer education.
Organising reading groups, spelling activities and conversation practice.
Leading creative activities such as art, music, drama and sports.
Preparing classroom materials and assisting with simple exercises.
Supporting educational and extracurricular activities.
All teaching activities will be coordinated with our local staff. Volunteers will complement the work of existing teachers and will not replace local teaching positions.
Time Commitment
Approximately 4–5 hours per day.
Monday to Friday.
Weekends are generally free.
Minimum volunteering period: 2 weeks.
Longer placements may be considered, subject to availability and suitability.
The final working arrangements will be discussed during the interview.
Accommodation and Practical Arrangements
We understand that travelling internationally requires careful planning. For this reason, we prefer to discuss accommodation and practical arrangements individually during the initial video interview.
During the interview, we will explain:
The accommodation arrangements currently available.
Whether hotel accommodation can be provided and the applicable room arrangements.
Meal arrangements and what is included.
Transport between your accommodation and the charity's location.
Local support, arrival arrangements and your designated point of contact.
Any other practical considerations relating to your stay.
Please note: Accommodation and other arrangements are subject to availability and individual confirmation. We will explain exactly what Anonymous Giving can provide before you are asked to make any travel commitments.
There is no volunteer placement or accommodation fee charged by Anonymous Giving.
Expenses and Personal Responsibilities
Volunteers should generally budget for their own:
Return international flights.
Appropriate travel insurance.
Visa and entry requirements.
Recommended vaccinations and travel health preparations.
Personal expenses and any costs not explicitly covered by the charity.
Any arrangements that Anonymous Giving agrees to provide will be discussed and confirmed individually before departure.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from UK-based individuals who:
Are aged 18 or above.
Have a good command of English.
Are patient, approachable and responsible.
Have an interest in education and community development.
Are respectful of different cultures and local customs.
Are comfortable working as part of a team.
Previous teaching experience, an education qualification or experience working with children would be advantageous, but is not necessarily required.
We are particularly interested in individuals who are genuinely motivated by community service rather than simply seeking an overseas travel experience.
Safeguarding and Child Protection
The safety and welfare of the children are our priority.
All volunteers must comply with our safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Volunteers will work under the supervision of local staff.
Volunteers must not be left alone with children.
Appropriate professional boundaries must be maintained.
References and relevant criminal record or background checks may be requested.
Our safeguarding guidelines will be shared with successful applicants before their placement.
How to Apply
If you are interested, please send us a short introduction covering:
Your name and current location.
Why are you interested in volunteering in Uganda?
Any teaching, educational or childcare experience.
Your preferred volunteering dates and intended length of stay.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an initial video interview. This will allow us to understand your interests, discuss the opportunity in greater detail and explain the practical arrangements before either party makes a commitment.
We are currently looking to speak with suitable applicants as soon as possible.
We look forward to hearing from you!
