Taichung is Taiwan’s true second city. Second only to New Taipei City in terms of population (Taipei is fourth!), it is the city Taiwanese people want to move to the most, and it is easy to see why. The birthplace of bubble tea has the best weather of any big city in Taiwan: less rainy than Taipei and more temperate than Kaohsiung. Cost of living, especially rent, is more reasonable than in the capital. Taichung’s ever-evolving food scene includes one of Taiwan’s largest and most famous night markets—Feng Chia Night Market— and the most Michelin Guide-awarded restaurants outside of the capital.

Some of Taiwan’s most important cultural offerings, both old and new, will be right at your doorstep. The nearly-300 year old Dajia Jenn Lann Temple is home to one of the world’s largest religious pilgrimages. The National Museum of Natural Science is one of the largest and most important in Taiwan.

Nature buffs have easy access to hiking in the Central Mountain Range, the Gaomei Wetlands, and the Guguan Hot Springs. For those looking for an oasis in the big city, Taichung is full of parks, bike paths, and quiet neighborhoods waiting to be explored.

Taichung boasts a growing metro system, rail and bus links to the rest of Taiwan, and Taichung International Airport puts Taiwan’s outer islands and vacation destinations across the region within easy reach. The high-speed rail means Taiwan’s other major cities are no more than an hour away.

Responsibilities

• Plan fun and engaging lessons using our structured curriculum
• Teach students from three to 12 years old as the lead teacher in class
• Maintain a safe, fun, and open classroom environment conducive to learning
• Complete administrative duties like checking homework, grading tests, and communicating progress to parents
• Collaborate with teachers from around the world to plan and execute special activities and events that supplement students’ classroom experiences
• Our approach emphasizes student output and natural English, building fluency and confidence through games, interactivity, and exploration.

Compensation and Benefits

• Earn competitive hourly teaching pay and a monthly stipend for completing administrative work, with annual raises
• Guaranteed hours mean you never teach less than 20 hours per week. Our teachers average 25-26 teaching hours per week.
• Receive seven days of sick leave and 14 days of flexible vacation time in your first year and an additional month of leave from your second year.
