Location: Seoul, Miasageori (line 4)

Position: Semester 2 Literacy Support Position. Starting time - August 21st, 2025 or Sep 1st, 2025. Ideally, you could be available to come in and shadow the current Literacy Support Teacher for a few days in late July to learn the ropes.

Contract:  From August 21st, 2025 or September 1st to February 30th, 2026. Note. We actually finish on February 6th, 2026 and returning teachers (signed for 2026-27) go on Spring Break until the Feb 24th, 2026.

Important Note: Teachers that take on the Literacy Support role always end up in a grade level homeroom classroom the following year. Unless, they want to stay in the Literacy Support role.

This position has two parts:

Part 1: Working with the Gr.1, 2 and 3 students in their homeroom classrooms. This would involve touching base with the gr.1, 2 and 3 homeroom teachers and then being in their classroom once, maybe twice a week (depending on which classes need the most support).  The goal is to provide support for those students  needing assistance with their literacy development. Most of the time you’ll be working on phonics using the UFLI lessons and tools https://ufli.education.ufl.edu/foundations/toolbox/

We aim for 11 to 12 blocks of support per week.  One block = 80 minutes

Part 2: Covering sick or absent teachers. Occasionally teachers have a family wedding or some other event or are just sick. In this regard, you would cover that teacher's class while they are away. We have good systems in place for when teachers are away, with Google Slide lesson links provided and lesson instructions. When you are covering someone's class, this takes priority over the literacy support timetable, so you only focus on covering for the day, not covering and doing the support role at the same time. We inform gr.1, 2 or 3 teachers that you won't be in their class that day (or days), as you'll be covering an absent teacher.
