Wallace Academic Editing edits and translates research papers for over 100 universities and research institutes. We specialize in academic editing and translation and seek applicants who enjoy writing and clarifying English. An interest in cutting-edge academic research is a plus. • This is a full-time, fully remote position.

【What You'll Do】

• Edit academic research papers for Taiwanese, Chinese, and Japanese researchers.

• Apply native-level English proficiency and writing skills to improve grammar, clarity, and expression in academic manuscripts intended for publication in international journals.

• Develop expertise in academic writing conventions, grammar, and style.

• Provide constructive comments to help authors improve their future writing.

• Apply style manuals and journal guidelines to ensure manuscripts meet academic and publisher expectations.

• Attend regular meetings to discuss interesting and challenging language points with editors from around the world.

• Incorporate feedback from regular peer evaluations to continuously improve editing skills.

【Required Skills/Abilities】

• Native-level English proficiency.

• A four-year university degree plus either a graduate degree or at least two years of relevant work experience in editing or writing.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Excellent written English skills, including clarity, conciseness, grammar, and punctuation.

• A genuine interest in language and technical subject matter.

• The ability to accept and apply constructive feedback for professional development.

• Familiarity with common errors made by nonnative English speakers and writers using informal academic English.

• The ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.

• Fast reading and typing skills, along with the ability to use Microsoft Word macros and other tools or techniques to streamline and expedite routine editing tasks.

2. First Sample Edit: Complete a short sample editing assignment to demonstrate English editing proficiency.

3. Interview: Attend an interview, either in person or via Skype, to meet our team, discuss the position and life in Taipei, and receive feedback on the first sample edit.

4. Second Sample Edit: Complete a final editing assessment (1,500–2,000 words) to demonstrate editing proficiency and the ability to incorporate feedback.
