JOB DESCRIPTION:

Valor International Scholars (VIS) is seeking a qualified and passionate Art Teacher. The teacher must be able to teach a range of art courses to students in grades 7–12, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and art history. VIS is a small school that believes in small class sizes and a wide variety of options. New faculty should be prepared to teach a broad range of art-related topics and to adapt courses from year to year as we balance the talents of our curriculum teams with the needs of students.

All VIS teachers are responsible for providing a Kingdom-minded educational atmosphere where each student has the opportunity to grow and develop their God-given creativity and artistic abilities. The Art Teacher is responsible for organizing well-planned lessons, implementing instructional strategies that inspire creativity, and equipping students with both technical skills and an appreciation for visual arts within a Biblical worldview.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field, in which the language of instruction is English.

  • Either successful completion of a teacher licensure program in an English-speaking country or at least five years of teaching experience in art.

  • A passion and understanding of integrating a Biblical Worldview into Christian education through the arts.

  • A proven work ethic and the ability to serve as a role model for students.

  • An active personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated by involvement in a local church and evidence of spiritual growth.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a teachable spirit.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching both middle and high school art students

  • Experience teaching AP Art courses (e.g., AP Studio Art, AP Art History)

  • Skills-focused approach to teaching that encourages creativity and critical thinking

  • Ability to manage and maintain an art studio environment, including materials and safety procedures
