Experienced Instructors wanted for University EAP Program – Changchun, Jilin
About the Role
We are recruiting suitably qualified and experienced educators to join a team of dedicated academics.
This China-based (Changchun) teaching scholar role focuses on teaching and unit assessment across pre-degree, award, and non-award programs, with a particular focus on teaching into an English Language Program. The role is part of a joint institute between an Australian university and a Chinese university initially running until July, 2027. Start date is asap, but flexible depending on work permit / visa timelines.
With future expansion planned, there will be opportunities to move into positions with greater responsibility
Responsibilities
In addition to the teaching responsibilities outlined below, the educator will be required to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and/or to professional and administrative activities appropriate to their position and discipline, as outlined by the Director, ELP, or their proxy:
- Prepare and deliver approximately 20 hours of high-quality English language teaching per week
- Collaborate with local coordinators and partner staff to support program delivery
- Attend required weekly meetings and professional development
- Be available for student consultation (approx. 2 hrs per week)
Requirements
The appointee should possess the following qualifications, skills, abilities and experience:
- Due to visa rules, applicants must have citizenship from US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, Sth Africa, or Ireland. Other nationalities can be considered if they have an acceptable higher degree
- Less than 58 years old
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
- An English language teaching qualification (e.g. TEFL, TESOL, CELTA)
- Practical experience teaching in on-campus environments and a proven ability to effectively adapt contemporary educational teaching technologies
- Evidence of relevant teaching experience
- Demonstrated willingness and capacity to engage with the scholarship of teaching
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups from a range of backgrounds, internal and external to the Institute’s environment
- Familiarity with online learning management systems such as Blackboard would be an advantage
Remuneration and Benefits
Successful candidates will be offered the following:
- A monthly salary of 18,000rmb (negotiable)
- All Chinese holidays including the Winter Vacation with full salary
- Choice of fully-furnished on-campus housing including all utilities, or a housing stipend
- Assistance with living matters will be provided
