< An explanation of a present native teacher at Mapo English Literacy Center>

This is a Children¡¯s English Library that teaches classes from children to adults. With this position, you will only be teaching elementary school students (from first to sixth grade) as well as adult classes in the mornings.

I have been working at this library for almost three years and it has become very dear to my heart. The children are respectful, the parents understanding, and my coworkers are extremely supportive. You will be the only foreign teacher and will be given independence in structuring and teaching your classes.

Because this position is at a library, it¡¯s important that the applicant genuinely loves reading, books, and literature. Almost all of the classes that you will be teaching are centered on books. For example, there are storytelling classes, picture book classes, chapter book classes, and so on. The future teacher will be helping the students grow their love for reading in an environment that is very different from the rigorous and often stressful style of hagwons and traditional academies. Instead, the future teacher will help nurture students in an atmosphere that is comfortable and welcoming.

You will teach four hours per day for a total of twenty hours per week. If you¡¯d like to teach a few more hours per week for a raise in salary, it is an option. You will have a lot of time to comfortably prepare for your classes. If the applicant has a master¡¯s degree or a lot of experience, salary is also further negotiable.

I love this job very much and am sad to leave. I have watched the students grow older and have taught many families. I am leaving this position because I am moving back to the United States. Otherwise, I would continue working here.
