Recruiting Subject Teachers for Seoul Global High School

This is a one-year (from August 25, 2018 to August 24, 2019) fixed term position with Seoul Global High School (SGHS) through Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE). The contract period could be renewed on a yearly basis. SGHS is a specialized public high school that focuses on the social sciences and humanities for 10th to 12th graders. It is located in central Seoul, Korea.

SGHS is looking for two teachers:

- an English teacher and
- a Science teacher (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science or Physics)

กแ Pay Scheme: 1,800,000 won – 3,000,000 won per month (depending on the level of qualification)

กแ Successful candidates should be able to submit all the required documents and complete a contract with SMOE prior to their term at SGHS which begins on August 25, 2018. As it typically takes at least a month after the interview, applicants must allow enough time for visa processing when they apply. The applicant's position at SGHS may not be guaranteed in the case that the applicant fails to obtain the required visa by August 25, 2018.


- Bachelor's degree in the designated subject areas (English / Science)
- TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate with 100 or more hours of training
- Those who have a teaching license (e.g. B. Ed., M.Ed.) or majored in teaching are not required to have a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate.
- Must be citizens of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, or South Africa (due to visa requirements)

- Teach 18 to 20 hours per week during the semesters.
- The subjects may include core subjects (related to applicant's area of study) as well as ESL classes.
- The subjects within the regular curriculum will be co-taught with Korean teachers.
- Teach at an English camp (either at SGHS or at an assigned institute by the SMOE) for two weeks at a time during the summer (mid-July to mid-August) and the winter (January) breaks.
- May be requested to teach at after-school programs with extra payment.
- Required to participate in school events and help with the administrative work of the school.
- Guaranteed 21 days of paid leave per year.
- Housing close to the school or housing subsidy of 500,000 won per month is provided.
- The monthly, severance, and contract renewal pay comply with the regulations of SMOE.

- Scanned copy of criminal record check (federal / national level ONLY)
- Scanned copy of TESOL/TEFL/CELTA (100 hrs) certification or valid teaching license
กแ After we review your eligibility criteria for our program, we will contact you to inform the 1st round result. If you pass the 1st round screening, you will have an interview with us, but considering the demand and the volume of the applications, we are not able to reach out to every applicant for the interview. Thus, please understand that we will contact those who are relatively strong match for the job. If you pass the interview, you will be asked to send the documents for the 2nd round to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE).
