Korea International School is looking for a passionate music educator to take over as Middle and High School Strings Director beginning July 2018. KIS is a private international school located near Seoul, serving primarily the children of Korean and expat professionals. Our students take school and music seriously and the administration is very supportive of the arts. The strings program has earned an international reputation for musical excellence. The department has a tradition of teamwork, collaboration, and high musical standards. We are looking for someone to help us continue that tradition.

We anticipate the new hire will teach the following classes:

-HS Phoenix Orchestra (9th-12th grade, auditioned)
-HS Concert Orchestra (9th-12th grade, non-auditioned)
-MS Phoenix Strings (7th-8th grade, auditioned
-MS Symphonic Strings (6th-8th grade, non-auditioned)
-MS Introduction to Strings (focus on double bass and viola, 6th-8th grade, non-auditioned)

In addition, the following responsibilities would be included:

Elementary school strings club after school once per week
Middle School Advisory and club

Four concerts per year on campus (October, December, March, May), some off-campus events, some extra on-campus events

Take auditioned groups to festival once or twice per year in country. Take students to solo/ensemble festival once per year in country.

Arranging maintenance of school-owned instruments and instrument lockers; assigning and keeping track of instrument lockers;

Be active in Korea International Music Educators Association (KIMEA), including hosting a festival every 2-3 years; judging honor group auditions; taking students to MS and HS honor group events; attending annual KIMEA conference.

Be active in Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS), taking students to MS and HS international honor groups yearly).
