Two American EFL Teachers (Half- to Full-time and Part-time) Currently Residing in Seoul Wanted

Dr. Harrison Lee’s IC English Center, an English language institute located in Seoul, is currently seeking two qualified American native English-speaking teachers who would be teaching English to Korean elementary school children. The Center is conveniently located near the Gireum subway station on line 4 (the blue line).

Start Date: September 1, 2017

Contract Type: Half- to Full-time (for Position 1) or Part-time (for Position 2)

Location: Gireum-dong, Seoul (near the Gireum subway station on line 4)

Position 1

Working Hours:

• Teaching Hours: 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm on M, W, F for elementary school classes
7:00 pm – 8:30 pm on M, F for middle school classes
4:00 pm – 8:30 pm on T, Th for elementary school classes
Total Teaching Hours Per Week: 21 hours

• Desk Preparation Hours: 1 hour per day

Note: There is a possibility that the teacher may be asked to teach 5:30 pm –7:00 pm classes on M, W, and F depending on student enrollment, in which case s/he must accept teaching the classes. An additional monthly salary of 300,000 won will be paid for teaching these extra classes.

Classes to Be Taught: 1. Communicative English
2. Instructional Conversation
3. English for Academic Purposes (for middle school students)


• Monthly salary of 2.2 million won, inclusive of a housing allowance of 500,000 won
• Severance bonus equal to one month’s salary, per year of service
• Employer contributions to national health insurance and pension plans
• Pre-service training on Instructional Conversation
• Paid vacation plus Korean national holidays

Position 2

Working Hours:

• Teaching Hours: 2:30 pm – 7:00 pm on M, W, F

• Desk Preparation Hours: 1 hour per day

Classes to Be Taught: 1. Phonics
2. Communicative English
3. Instructional Conversation
(All theses classes are for elementary school students.)


• Employer contributions to national health insurance and pension plans (for E-2 visa holders)


The candidate for each position must

1. hold a valid passport and a baccalaureate (bachelor’s) or a higher degree.
No F-4 visa holders are wanted.
2. be a native speaker of American English.
3. currently reside in Korea.
4. have EFL teaching experience with elementary school children in a school/language institute setting.
5. have a positive outlook and energetic demeanor.
6. have an interest in and enthusiasm about learning about and implementing Instructional Conversation
