Special Needs Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a teacher's assistant to support a 17-year-old student at Dwight School Seoul with Williams Syndrome to be in class each morning from 8:30 AM to lunchtime every school day. Williams Syndrome is a genetic condition that affects 1 in 10,000 from birth. It is characterized by learning disabilities, some motor skill opportunities, and slower emotional development.

The specific role is to support this student to be productive in classroom activities; to help explain teaching content as needed; as well as work with him separately as necessary during class time to his intellectual capability. This boy is a very warm, caring, always happy 17-year-old teenager who follows directions well. However, given his special needs, the person will need to work effectively with him and the classroom teachers to help him integrate into classes as well as work separately to help him progress at his own pace.

So we are looking for a person with current teaching qualifications and excellent English language skills. The followings would be a definite plus:

experience working with middle school students or upper primary school students.
experience with students needing support with learning (special needs)
experience working with students individually or in small groups
experience working in a team
experience communicating with teachers and parents
knowledgeable in areas of math and literacy at primary school/middle school level

If you are interested, please send your cover letter and resume in to jinandsamkim@hotmail.com.

Thank you.
