Full-time Teachers Needed in Seoul, Korea

Posted By: Gwangmyeong POLY <brian@koreapolyschool.com>
Date: Tuesday, 3 December 2013, at 10:24 a.m.

About the School:
We have been awarded a Best Brand award from Korea Times as the top school in Junior Education for the past eight years. POLY students have won numerous awards in national English aptitude tests, and every student must pass a strict entrance test before being allowed to join our academy.
We have numerous campuses throughout Korea and Vietnam. We have a good reputation among teachers and parents, and many of our teachers have re-signed more than once. Several of our teachers have been here for over 2-3 years. We have a well-developed curriculum, we offer a very nice salary and benefit package, and we have several experienced staff on hand to train you and help you adjust to our program as well as life in Korea.

About Gwangmyeong Campus:
Gwangmyeong POLY is located literally one subway station outside of southwest Seoul. Gasan Digital Complex Station, Line 1&7, the next subway station in Seoul is a prime business district and is where the clothing outlets in Seoul are located. Since we are a smaller campus, we are very family orientated. We understand that relocating to a new country can be very difficult and we do what we can to make sure the adjustment is as smooth as possible. Candidates who are being seriously considered for employment will be allowed to contact an English Language Instructor currently working at the campus.

The ideal applicant:

The ideal applicant holds a degree in Education, English, Communications, or Linguistics. It is best if he/she has some teaching experience, or at least experience working with young children. He/she is a blend of 3 main ingredients: love, discipline, and intelligence. Korean children are a bit more fragile than their Western cousins, and a little love goes a long way. We used to describe this quality as gentleness, but found that teachers can appear gentle without giving themselves to students, so we emphasize that the teachers must really care for the students. Discipline is required not only to keep up our tight schedule, but also to keep your students disciplined (while still remaining gentle!). There are SO many reasons why intelligence is required, but we hope most are obvious. He/she knows that this is a job and not a vacation, despite being far from home. Many people make EFL a career, and we expect such dedication. Above all else, he/she must love being around children because that is what its all about. Additional required qualities are self-motivation, inquisitiveness, punctuality, a desire for learning, and professionalism.
