Korea University's Sejong Campus in Jochiwon, South Korea, has openings for ESL (English as Second Language) instructors. Our campus is in the small town of Jochiwon, located about 120 km south of Seoul and 40 km north of Daejeon.
Currently we have one native English-speaking instructor hired by the Department of English Language and Literature.
We have one opening, starting next semester (March, 2010). We offer one-year contracts which may be subsequently renewed once. The application deadline is November 16, 2009.

POSITION
Full-time Instructor

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants MUST have at least a Master's degree. Preference will be given to applicants having a DIPLOMA in English Language and Literature and Bachelor's in English or related fields, with substantial teaching experience in ESL. We are looking for an instructor who is not only competent but also enthusiastic, adaptable, creative, and cooperative.

DUTIES
The primary responsibility of this position is to teach several sections of the two-semester English conversation/writing courses, which are required credit classes for the students of the Department of English Language and Literature on our campus. Other responsibilities include teaching some elective credit courses in the Undergraduate and Graduate School, holding office hours, and participating in faculty meetings and professional development. The minimum teaching load during semesters is 12 hours of credit courses per week. Additional teaching hours may be required with overtime payments.

4. Copies of certificates in TESOL or equivalents, if applicable
5. Copies of the personal data pages of your passport and alien registration card (only for residents of Korea)
6. Recent letter of reference regarding your teaching abilities and character
7. Passport size color photograph
8. A copy of Self-health statements : original will be required after interview

PAY AND BENEFITS
The basic annual salary is 34,830,600 won(2,322,000 per month plus 3 times bonus). The exchange rate is normally around 1,170 won per US dollar. Benefits also include a round trip economy class airfare for first year contract, subsidized Korean National Health Insurance, and a semi-private office (shared by one instructor). Instructors must also contribute to the Korea Teachers Pension Program.

HOUSING
Single dormitory rooms are standard. For a room in the faculty dormitory, instructors are charged approximately 1,230,000 per semester. Also, we have apartments near Campus which will be charged 2,560,000 won per year. This will be collected throughout the year in 8 monthly installments of 320,000 won per month and automatically deducted from your pay.
Utilities, including electricity, water, phone, internet, and other apartment maintenance fees, are the sole responsibility of the instructor. The Instructor is also welcome to arrange their own local housing at their expenses if they wish.
