(Direct-Hire) Teachers and Writers Needed: Teach/Write at 7s English With a Proprietary Curriculum in Bundang (Seoul)

[Introduction]
7s English is looking for native English teachers and writers who are
highly motivated, are dedicated to children and teaching, and have a
professional outlook. We need instructors that share our objectives to
help students achieve their educational goals as efficiently as possible,
instill study habits and confidence, and above all, motivate them to
succeed. We also need writers who can become experts in the learning
process to create material that help students excel.

We are looking for dedicated personnel to assist us in our goals, and as
such provide full training in the use of our program and curriculum, from
phonemic awareness and guided reading, to interactive teaching and
expressive vocabulary development.

Curriculum

1. Full curriculum program based on over 5 years of research on the US
educational system and philosophies.
2. In-house developed educational DVD materials, teaching methods, and
assessment packages

R&D

1. R&D department devoted to production of ever-evolving curriculum
content and teaching tools.
2. Vast content database to correctly assign foreign (English) material
content to the appropriate English proficiency level of domestic (Korean)
students

Company Philosophy

[Teacher Position Information]

1. Location : Sunae-dong, Bundang-gu, South Korea
2. Employment positions: Ongoing
3. Number of foreign instructors on-site: 5
4. Start Date: Ongoing
5. Salary: 2.2 ~ 2.9 million won/month, dependent on qualifications.
Salary is based on a 42.5-hour workweek with 30 hours teaching and/or
developing material, with hours outside the class spent on meals, class
preparation, score management, and performing other education-related
tasks.
6. Hours: Regular working hours are from 1:30-10:00 Monday-Friday, with 30
or less hours teaching a week. Note that there are two month-long sessions
with displaced hours (summer and winter, ~11 to 7). 1:30 to 2:00 is used
as a lunch break, and 2:00 to 2:30 is used as class prep time. The first
classes start at 2:30.
7. Overtime payment: 25,000 won/a teaching hour beyond 30 hours teaching.
Note: Overtime will not be required if not requested by instructor, except
under extraordinary circumstances. Overtime, unless deemed acceptable by
instructor, will never be done on weekends.
8. Students: Mostly elementary (Grade 1-6), some middle school (Grade
7-9); and very few, if at all, high school students. No kindergarteners.
9. Max Class Size: 8~10 dependent on skill/level
10. Orientation and fully paid training
11. Housing: Single furnished housing within a five minute walking
distance to the institute, OR a housing allowance of 400,000 to 500,000
won
12. Vacation: All paid Korean national holidays & 10 days paid vacation.
Vacation days are directed by the institute, with the majority falling in
summer and winter.
13. Plane ticket to and from Korea provided if needed
14. Severance bonus at the end of contract (equivalent to one month's
salary)
15. 50% National Medical Insurance and National Pension Plan given
16. E-2 VISA sponsorship if required

a. A candidate with potential will be able to grasp our teaching methods
and concepts, incorporate it into his/her teaching style, and utilize
his/her skill sets to effectively teach the students and perform company
duties.
b. Some indicators based on a candidateís history are to graduate from a
top 75 US college or equivalent, have experience in an education industry
setting, be an English/Linguistics/Education major, or possess
education-related certifications.

2. Passion: The ideal candidate will have passion for the job. This may
include having an affinity toward teaching, children, educational
development, or working in an academic company environment.
a. A candidate with passion will take an avid and active interest in the
status and improvement of the students. He/she will take the initiative to
alert management of the current situation, recommend and present a
concrete action plan to solve the issue, as well as mentor students
outside of class hours to buttress specific language skills, motivation,
or confidence

3. Professional: The ideal candidate will have a professional mindset and
outlook.
a. Understanding the objectives, executing duties with commitment, and
aligning oneself with the companyís educational philosophies and methods
are examples of being a consummate professional.
b. One indicator can be the number and length of employment of previous
jobs. Switching jobs after every year and early contract terminations are
not ideal.

[Curriculum Developer Position Information]

1. Basic details are the same as the teaching position, unless stated
below
2. Employment positions: Ongoing
3. Start Date: Ongoing
4. Salary: 2.2 ~ 2.9 million won/month, dependent on qualifications.
Salary is based on a 42.5-hour workweek developing material. Writers will
have opportunities to teach some classes in order to research and
understand the target audience needs and capabilities.
5. Hours: 8.5 hours a day, Monday-Friday; Start and end times are flexible
(9-5:30 and 1:30-10 are options)
6. Target Material: Basic phonics to test prep(SAT, TOEFL, TEPS)

[Job Description]
A writerís job is to create tools to help the institute and the teachers
succeed in helping students grow and learn English in an effective way.
Writers will work within the R&D department to create and edit material.
Job tasks may include:
1. Editing final works for mistakes in content, format, or layout
2. Assisting in all aspects of the creation of workbooks
3. Formulating quizzes, vocabulary sheets, and the like
4. Assisting lead developers in researching content: collocations, idioms,
phrasal verbs, multi-meaning word usage, and the like

[Ideal Candidates]
In addition to what we look for in teachers, a writer should also possess:
1. A keen eye in terms of editing and proofreading
2. The ability to learn new processes and successfully apply them
3. The aptitude to work semi-independently, while still being able to
execute and deliver commitments
4. The ability to prioritize tasks
5. A desire for a long-term commitment in this field. We do not need
traveling writers. Applicants that are residing in Korea and have
long-term residence plans are prioritized.

An ideal candidate, after experience and training, should:
1. Understand the complexity and breadth of language acquisition
2. Be accustomed and proficient with our system
2. Evaluate sub-modules of created material for their effectiveness in
teaching the intended target students
3. Plan proposals and create new workbook module templates to better teach
students

[Prerequisites]
Applicants without required data will receive lower priority in the hiring
process.
1. Resume with GPA and SAT/ACT score (or equivalent) in Microsoft
Word/Notepad format

Head Teacher: The head teacher is Korean-American, has worked at the
institute since its inception in 2007, and is a graduate from Dartmouth
College.
Head Korean Teacher: The head Korean teacher is Korean, proficient in
English, and is a graduate from Seoul National University.
Director: The director is Korean, proficient in English, a graduate from
Seoul National University, and has worked for Fortune 500 multinational
firms for over a decade.
