* Several full-time instructors are needed to teach in the Freshman English Program/English Conversation Program at Kyungpook National University (KNU). Our distinguished KNU campuses are located near the center of Daegu city and the center of Sangju city (located about one hour from Daegu), respectively. Foreign residents know that the KNU name is very prestigious and an important addition to any teachers resume. The university has 16 colleges (departments) and 11 graduate schools (programs) with over 24,000 students in total. Your teaching will be conducted through the Language Institute at KNU, which offers state of the art amenities in a fresh new environment.

* Program 1: Freshmen English Program (Credit Based Courses) at Daegu and Sangju Campus
* JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Beginning Date: March 2, 2010.2. This program aims to improve students’ English skills as part of the university’s Freshman English Course work. Credit classes are conducted at pre-intermediate and intermediate levels.
3. Program
a. For Daegu teaching positions:
Beginning Salary with a B.A. degree: 2.2 million KRW/Month
Beginning Salary with an M.A. degree: 2.3 million KRW/Month
Beginning Salary with an Ph.D. degree: 2.4 million KRW/Month
b. For Sangju teaching positions:
Beginning Salary with a B.A. degree: 2.4 million KRW/Month
Beginning Salary with an M.A. degree: 2.5 million KRW/Month
Beginning Salary with an Ph.D. degree: 2.6 million KRW/Month
*KRW = Korean Won; As of November, 2009 the USD 1.00 = KRW 1,177.54. Vacation: About 8 full weeks of paid vacation
5. Teaching Schedule:
* Spring and Fall Semesters
Duration: 16 - 17 weeks
Contract Hours: 20 hours per week
Class Hours: Between 9 am & 4 pm, Monday - Friday
Class Size: Maximum of 22 students per class
Other Duties: Attendance records, homework, testing & grading
* Summer and Winter Sessions
Duration: 4 to 5 weeks
Contract Hours: Up to 80 hours per month
Class Hours: Between 9 am & 6 pm, Monday - Friday
Class Size: 11 -16 students per class
Other Duties: Intensive Program, Credit Course - Same as Spring / Fall6. Extra teaching (income) opportunities are available

* JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Beginning Date: March 2, 20102. This program provides English conversation classes for students who are highly motivated to take extra English conversation classes beyond the university’s required credit courses.
3. Beginning Salary : 2.4 million KRW/Month
4. A 7-week session (for 2 months as a unit) is run, totaling at 6 sessions a year.
5. An average 25 50-minute lessons per week (4 weeks of teaching in the first month of the session; 3 weeks of teaching in the second month).
6. One week paid vacation in the last week of the each session, totaling approximately 6 weeks paid vacation a year
7. Teaching time: 07:00 – 10:00 and 17:00 – 20:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
8. Class size: 8 – 15 students.
* BENEFITS:
1. Severance: One month’s salary upon successful completion of contract
2. Pension: National Pension Plan, 50% monthly contribution by KNU
3. Insurance: Medical & Dental, 50% paid for by KNU
4. Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance
5. Free Housing: Furnished studio apartment which includes the following:
1) air-conditioner; 2) color television; 3) VCR; 4) refrigerator; 5) bed; 6) desk w/chair; 7) small dining table w/2 chairs; 8) wardrobe closet; 9) telephone; 10) internet-access (university LAN) outlet; 11) washing machine; and 12) hot-plate
6. Classrooms: TV/VCR units; audio-cassette players; heaters & A/C units
7. Airfare: NO AIRFARE PROVIDED* QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Native speaker of English
2. Education:
a. Preferre MA in TESOL, MA in Applied Linguistics, M.Ed.
b. Acceptable BA in relevant field (ELT) with TEFL/TESOL Certificate will be considered
c. Previous EFL teaching experience (experience in Korea preferred)
