Teacher of English for Young Learners: Kyungpook National University Daegu, South Korea

Several full-time instructors to teach a special program called English for Young Learners is sought at the Language Institute at Kyungpook National University (KNU), Korea. KNU with its beautiful campus is located in Daegu, Korea’s third largest city. The university has 16 colleges and 11 graduate schools with over 24,000 students. The Language Education Center building was newly built and has amenities.

Starting Date: March 2, 2010.

Job Description and Benefits:

1. Teach English to elementary school students (aged 9 – 12) Monday to Friday
2. Salary: 2.6 million won a month.
3. Severance pay: One-month’s salary after the completion of a contract each
year.
4. A 7-week session (2 months as a unit) is run, totaling at 6 sessions a year.
5. Teaching hours: An average twenty 50-minute lessons per week (4 weeks of
teaching in the first month of the session; 3 weeks of teaching in the second
month).
6. A minimum 4-week paid vacation. About 7 days following the closing of each
session is allocated as a session break; usually, vacation is thus estimated to be
about 6 weeks a year.
7. Class size: 10 students
8. Free furnished studio apartment with free internet service.
9. Classrooms provided with a heater/air conditioner
10. No airfare provided. Applicants are responsible for work visa cost.

Qualifications:
1. Native speaker of English.
2. Master’s degree (English, Education or Childhood Education major) strongly preferred.
3. Bachelor’s degree along with TESOL/EFL/ESL teaching certificate is considered.
4. Certificate or experience in Gifted or Enrichment education preferred.
5. Previous experience teaching children English preferred.

5. Copy of criminal record certificate with an apostille.
6. Health certificate (form to be provided by the institute)
7. Three letters of reference (personal & professional).
8. Please specify the date on which your current contract expires.
9. Please include your marital status (accommodation purpose).
