NON-TENURE TRACK PROFESSOR POSITIONS FOR 2010 SPRING SEMESTER
AT SOONGSIL UNIVERSITY

The College of Core and Specialized Education at Soongsil University invites applications for non-tenure track full-time professor positions to teach English beginning March 1, 2010.

Job Description
Applicants are invited for a one-year (two-year at renewal) position as a full-time, non-tenure track professor of English starting in March 1, 2010. There are 18 teaching hours and one hour of committee work per week from Monday through Friday. Overtime is paid for additional teaching hours.

The faculty members teach in the following programs:

Freshman Program: A compulsory credit-bearing course for all first-year students; average class size 23.

University elective classes: Courses currently on offer include Media, Business Communication, Intermediate English Conversation, and Public Speaking. (15 teaching hours a week)

Qualifications
-Native speakers of English with BA/BS and ideally an MA/MS
-TEFL/TESL English teaching certificate
-Minimum of 2 years of English teaching experience
-Able to come in for teaching demonstration and interview

Benefits
-Starting salary from 2.15 million won per month depending on educational and professional experience
-Overtime: 24,000 - 43,000 won/hour
-Housing allowance: 390,000 ~ 450,000 per month
-Resettlement allowance: 800,000 won
-16 weeks of paid vacation (8 weeks in summer & 8 weeks in winter)
-Subsidized (50% of the premium) national health insurance
-Pension: Korea Teachers’ Pension Plan
-A good working environment. (Some faculty have worked here for more than 10 years.)

3) Original diploma(s)
4) 6 recent photos (3.5 X 4.5 cm)
5) Signed Self-health statements ( http://www.hikorea.go.kr )
6) Criminal background checks that have been issued after September 1st 2009 and are apostilled and/or notarized (depending on your nationality).
