Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1) Who is Pacific Bridge?

We are a global team of Chinese, Americans and Canadians with extensive experience in international education. We work with schools that we have carefully vetted and reviewed before partnering with them. China is a land of exciting opportunity: a confluence of ancient culture and modern skyscrapers, a place where a city of 1 million is considered a "small town," and a place where you can begin a life changing adventure. Whether you want to learn a new language, experience a new culture, or launch an international career, figuring out what steps to take can be difficult. We understand that. Our goal is to be a guide for your China experience: from finding quality jobs to providing individualized support in life and business. For us, nothing is more important than professional development and personal happiness, and for that reason we have created a transparent and informative job placement process.

2) How does your service work? Does it cost anything?

Our service is 100% free for teachers. Additionally, we will never ask you to sign a contract with us. After you submit your application and go through an initial screening interview, we put you directly in touch with the school which you will be interviewing with. You will be in direct contact with the school and sign a contract directly with them. All of our partner schools issue Z-visas (work permits), and offer industry-competitive salaries and benefits.

3) Do I need experience to teach in China?

We often have entry-level positions that require little to no prior experience. You will, however, have to have a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate to qualify for most of these positions. Often new teachers first start at a training center and move into other schools as they gain experience.

4) What is the process like once I sign a contract?

Once you sign a contract you will begin the Z-visa process in your home country. This process takes 4-6 weeks to complete. Prior to entry into China your school will help to arrange either temporary accommodation while you look for an apartment, or in the case of some schools, help you move into an apartment that is provided by the school. Your school will have a person who is there to help you with basic things such as setting up a bank account, getting a SIM card, etc. Facebook, Reddit and other social media sites offer great resources for connecting with other teachers living in your city.
