China is one of British Councilís largest exams operations, delivering extensive international exams to individuals, institutions, schools and corporate clients in mainland China. By providing access to highly valued UK qualifications, with the reassurance of integrity, we build on the UKís reputation for world-class educational standards. Core tests we administer include IELTS, Aptis, and a wide range of academic and professional qualifications (Distribution Exams stream).

British Council Exams in China has the largest team of fulltime examiners and language assessment consultants in the world. Because of the expertise in China, we also function as a language assessment services centre for the East Asia region and for other offices in our global network. We carry out assessment related projects on behalf of internal clients and external clients in different parts of the world.


This is interesting role for those who are looking to embark on a career with us; you will provide Exams Business Development and Marketing teams with language assessment knowledge and skills to support product development, key research projects and achieve sales and impact targets.

To be able to qualify for this position, you will need language proficiency in English at Proficiency Level C2, preferably with Chinese at B1. You will also be required to have a bachelorís degree (ideally in a subject relevant to language teaching, education, assessment), 2 years post certificate level qualification in language teaching (e.g. CELTA or similar) with 5 years + in a language teaching role and 2 years + in a language assessment role and working knowledge of test development processes.

It will be highly preferred if you have experience in working in a Chinese educational context e.g. secondary and/or higher education sector, doing presentation at international conferences and proven experience of workshop facilitation in education contexts
