The Job
Our school is now looking for enthusiastic, positive English teachers with experience educating young learners to join our team. We operate an excellent language school in Hong Kong, providing various educational programs to children in kindergarten through to secondary school.

Now in our 18th year, English Excel is a group of 12 British owned extra curricular English schools (the only such group in Hong Kong) all located in central areas of Hong Kong. We focus on providing a high quality, interactive, and encouraging learning environment for students between the ages of 3 and 16.

Teachers are assigned to work in one of the 12 schools as part of a team of native English speaking teachers. Classes are strongly geared towards oral interaction as well as reading, phonics and writing and in addition, classes are limited to a maximum of 4 students per class in the aim of offering an ideal learning and teaching environment.

We believe full immersion is an important method of language learning and we encourage students to switch to full English mode when they attend lessons. We focus on confidence building and learning in a natural and positive way, suitable to the students capabilities and levels.

The small class sizes allow teachers to get to know their students and their abilities really well. This enables us to tailor lessons to meet the individual needs of the students. We do not follow a set textbook. Instead, teachers plan and prepare their own lessons, targeted to their students specific areas for improvement. To facilitate this tailored approach, teachers are provided with a huge variety of resources divided into different levels and skill areas. We aim to strike a balance, teaching engaging and interactive English lessons which can include crafts, outings and even simple cooking! Students are placed according to their English level rather than their age.

Hong Kong
As a Special Administrative Region of China, Hong Kong is situated on the southeast coast of China. It is made up of four parts: Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, the New Territories and the Outlying Islands. The prosperous island is the center of economy, politics, entertainment and shopping with its southern part noted for sea shores and bays. Kowloon is another flourishing part where Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok are the most popular destinations. The New Territories and Outlying Islands are ideal places to experience a peaceful and natural holiday.

Reviews from Teachers
Working and living in Hong Kong has been an amazing experience. I love how Hong Kong has a little bit of everything. Twenty minutes from the crazy buzz of the centre you can be laid on the beach listening to the waves. I have been able to explore so much of Hong Kong and other parts of Asia. By: Shona Gregson, UK

I was really apprehensive when I first moved to Hong Kong. I'd taught ESL before but had never even considered Hong Kong as a destination until I took this job. I really liked the idea of teaching small classes and having a more fluid curriculum. In the past, curriculum had either been strict and rigid or nonexistent, and this seemed like the best of both worlds that would allow me to be creative with my classes but also gave a main objective By: Alex Palmer, UK
