Job Description: ACT/TOEFL Teacher
Class hours per week: Maximum 24 hours per week
Average class size: 30 students
Age of students: 16-18 years
School Location: Haikou, Hainan Province
Type of School: Public

General Statement:
A competent ACT/TOEFL Teacher understands growth and development, demonstrates knowledge of what is to be taught and facility in the basic skills and helps students to develop positive self-concepts.
The ACT/TOEFL Teacher stimulates the independence of each student as a learner, effectively assesses student needs and progress, and plans instruction to achieve selected objectives, including those appropriate for exceptional students.
The ACT/TOEFL Teacher accomplishes these objectives through effective communication with students, parents and colleagues, and through the use of appropriate techniques and materials in a positive climate where time, space and equipment are effectively organized for instruction. In addition, the ACT/TOEFL Teacher meets professional responsibility for continuing growth and fosters cooperative involvement with parents and the community.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates facility in the skills of reading, writing and mathematics.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of the subject to be taught.
3. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development as it relates to the teaching-learning process.
4. Demonstrates knowledge of the American public school system.
5. Plans instruction to achieve selected objectives.
6. Effectively implements instructional plans and uses appropriate instructional techniques.
7. Effectively communicates with students.
8. Helps students develop positive self-concepts.
9. Facilitates the independence of the student as learner.
10. Effectively organizes time, space, materials and equipment for instruction.
11. Effectively assesses student needs and progress.
12. Effectively meets the needs of exceptional students.
13. Establishes a positive learning environment.
14. Meets professional responsibilities.
15. Encourages and maintains the cooperative involvement and support of parents and the community.

1. American citizen or lived in USA for several years
2. TESOL Certification preferred but not required
3. Energetic, enthusiastic
4. Teaching Experience is a must
5. Enjoys working with high school teenagers and has a strong sense of responsibility and education

Course Design:
Consist of two kinds of high school courses, namely, Chinese and American courses. The domestic high school courses as required by the Chinese Ministry Education are taught by the teachers from Hainan Overseas Chinese High School, while American courses by foreign teachers. This will let the students better understand the cultural and educational differences between China and United States.

Hainan Overseas High School:
Originally founded in 1938. It is located in Haikou city, Hainan Province (Hainan Island, known to be the sunshine and ocean province). It is a key high school and a provincial model high school with a long history and a good reputation. It now has more than 9813 students and a staff of 630.
