The Job

Our school is now looking for responsible, experienced and dedicated Director of Studies / Head Teachers who have a genuine desire to teach young learners aged 3 to 12 years old as well as the ability to train and lead a team of teachers.

You will have at least 4 years of relevant teaching experience, great communication skills and conflict management abilities. You will offer academic support to less experienced teachers, help with creating new resources for the school and take part in other duties such as placement testing, class observations and running occasional teaching workshops.

We also provide a series of well-researched and well-structured curriculum which follows the North American standards. We provide education which has a balanced distribution on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.



The Curriculum

We offer two different programs for students: Early Starter Programs are for young learners aged 3 to 6 years old. It uses a series of English course materials developed by our very own research and development department. The textbooks cover areas such as phonics, vocabularies and conversation. A large part of the program is music where we developed over 60 songs for young learners. The lyrics of the songs are all associated with the content of our conversation books. The other program is the Elementary Program which is for older students between 7 to 15 years old. The course materials consist of a series of English textbooks developed by McGraw Hill, an American publishing company. The subjects learned are Spelling, Language Arts, Phonics, Dolch Sight Words, Reading and Writing.



Shanghai

Known as the Pearl of the Orient, Shanghai is truly an international metropolis in every sense of the word. The most vibrant and progressive city in China, Shanghai is the economic and cultural center, blending an incredible mix of Eastern and Western culture. On one side of the mighty Yangtze River flowing through Shanghai is the Pu Dong district, rural farm land just 20 years ago, it is now the financial and commercial hub with skyscrapers stretching ever higher. Along the western bank of the river, the iconic Bund is a reminder of Shanghais colonial past featuring grand European architecture.





Chengdu

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province, which is known as the Heavenly State, located in the West of China next to Tibet. Being the natural habitat of cute giant pandas, Chengdu is located in the west of Sichuan Basin and in the center of Chengdu Plain. It covers a total area of 12.3 thousand square kilometers with a population of over 11 million.





Guangzhou

Guangzhou is a prosperous metropolis full of vigor, is the capital city of Guangdong Province located along the south coastline of China. Being an excellent port on the Pearl River navigable to the South China Sea, and with fast accessibility to Hong Kong and Macau, Guangzhou serves as the political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural center in Guangdong area.




Nanjing

Located on the south bank of the Yangtze River, Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, is one of the most delightful destinations in China. Known as the capital city of six dynasties in ancient Chinese history, it has a brilliant cultural heritage.





Main Responsibilities
o Maximum of 40 working hours per week
o At least 12 hours of teaching per week
o Plan lessons and classroom activities
o Write monthly reports on each student’s progress and development
o Weekend classes with 2 days off during the week
o Assist in school’s promotional events
o Conduct demo classes to potential new students
o Run staff meetings and teacher training sessions
o Support teaching staff


Compensation for Shanghai and Guangzhou
Total monthly package worth 25,500 RMB (4,000 USD) which breaks down as follows:
o Excellent salary: 18,000 RMB per month
o Attendance bonus: 600 RMB per month
o Monthly performance bonus: 400 RMB per month
o Annual Increase: Performance based 4% to 8% depending on annual performance evaluations o Housing allowance: up to 4,000 RMB per month
o Meal allowance: up to 1,000 RMB per month
o Performance bonus: 2,000 RMB distributed 4 times per year
o Insurance provided
o Contract completion bonus: 6,000RMB distributed at the end of the contract
o Annual travel allowance: 3,000 RMB distributed at the end of the contract
o Relocation allowance: 1,750RMB for hotel on arrival
o 11 days national holidays plus 5 paid personal holidays
o Legal Z work visa & work permit
o Lunch and dinner provided during working schedule
o Annual staff trip
o Professional pre-job training with on-going program supervision

Compensation for Chengdu and Nanjing
Total monthly package worth 21,500 RMB (3,300 USD) which breaks down as follows:
o Excellent salary: 15,000 RMB per month
o Attendance bonus: 600 RMB per month
o Monthly Performance bonus: 400 RMB per month
o Annual Increase: Performance based 4% to 8% depending on annual performance evaluations o Housing allowance: up to 3,000 RMB per month
o Meal allowance: up to 1,000 RMB per month
o Performance bonus: 2,000 RMB distributed 4 times per year
o Insurance provided

Requirements
o Bachelors degree
o TEFL certificate required (No TEFL? We recommend INTESOL www.GoldStarTeachers.com/INTESOL)
o Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or Ireland
o 4 years of teaching experience
o Fluency in oral and written English
o Professional, positive and culturally aware
o Energetic, friendly and hard-working
o Patient, enthusiastic and passionate in teaching young learners
