Vericant makes admissions easier for North American educational institutions by helping them identify best-fit Chinese applicants via verified video interviews, proctored writing samples, and spoken English evaluation.

Please read the job descriptions for two open positions:

ENGLISH LANGUAGE RATER/REVIEWER

Role: English Language Rater/Reviewer
Responsibilities: Watch interview clips online and accurately score spoken English using Vericant’s Spoken English Evaluation (SEE) rubric; interviewee identities are protected and so is yours.
Compensation: $18-24 / hour as Rater, $24-32 / hour if promoted to Reviewer
Location: Remote (online)

About Vericant:

We hate doing useless things and we feel test prep and application fraud is a colossal waste of time and money. For the past four years, we’ve persuaded North American institutions to reconsider the way they evaluate applicants and now we are the most widely required video interview in North America. The Vericant Behavioral Interview provides applicants a platform to shine, while the Spoken English Evaluation (SEE) provides an indicator of language ability. Together, they are a fast, effective way for admission officers to evaluate their applicants. We’re welcoming a ton of new universities this year, and we need the best raters and reviewers to ensure continued quality of our service.

Responsibilities:
• Rate spoken English ability according to Vericant’s Spoken English Evaluation (SEE) standards
• Complete training & maintain a high level of accuracy in applying SEE standards
• Adhere to Vericant’s client-facing communications policy
• Maintain professionalism in scheduling and communicating with remote manager
• Work ~5-20 hours / week between the months of September & April
–If promoted to Reviewer (must demonstrate consistently high level of accuracy): *Review and made decisions on other raters’ work (anonymous)
*Submit written feedback on inaccurate ratings (anonymous)

Essential Qualifications:
• Native English Speaker from a native English speaking country, B.A. preferred
• Impeccable verbal communication skills
• Scores 5-6 on the SEE during interview
• Able to commit 5-10 hrs / week (low season); 15-20hrs / week (high season)
• Have a flexible work schedule

Desired Qualifications:
• Quick learner
• Some professional experience teaching or assessing English as second language a huge plus
• Good time-management and organizational skills

PART-TIME INTERVIEWER

Responsibilities: Conduct English interviews with high school, university, or graduate
applicants
Salary: RMB 1,200 / full day
Location: Multiple – Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen/Guangzhou

admission officers to evaluate their applicants. We’re welcoming a ton of new universities this year, and
we need the best interviewers to ensure continued quality of our service.

Responsibilities:
• Interview students according to Vericant’s Behavioral Interview guidelines
• Adhere to Vericant’s Interview Day Process and Vericant client-facing communications policy
• Maintain professionalism throughout interviews
• Work a minimum of 4 weekend days or a minimum of 6 week days a month from
September to March
• Develop and maintain a keen understanding of Vericant’s mission, vision, and the China
admissions scene

Essential Qualifications:

• Native English Speaker from a native English speaking country
• Impeccable verbal communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills - warm and friendly
• Able to commit a minimum of 4 weekend days a month
• Gets things done. Period.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Demonstrate professionalism with our clients and amongst Vericant peers

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience working in mainland China
• Excellent time-management and organization skills
• Flexibility to work some weekdays in lieu or in addition to weekends
• Conversational Mandarin a huge plus
• Excited by working in a fast-growth, start-up environment
