A Level Subject Teacher Needed in Guangzhou, China

The Cambridge A Level International Center of Sun Yat-sen University is authorized by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE Code: CN978) to conduct A Level and IGCSE courses teaching and testing since April 2014.

SYSU-A Level program integrates the CIE A Level program into the Sun Yat-sen University, which is the most prestigious local university in Southern China, providing a broad platform as well as many educational opportunities for local students who want to learn international perspectives, experience different education mode and explore extensive academic fields.

Sun Yat-sen University has deep-rooted links with the city of Guangzhou and a long tradition of academic excellence. SYSU-A Level center is to create a teacher-friendly working place, where high-calibre individuals from all around the world are happy to cooperate with each other and can identify with our values and are keen to contribute to our continuing success.

A Level Subject Teacher
1. Bachelor Degree or higher
2. Fluent English communication skills, bilingual teaching instruction is preferred
3. Expertise subject background, professional teaching skills
4. With experience in international programs, A Level/IGCSE/IB preferred
5. Team worker, professionalism, determined to engage in the international education

1. Conduct, plan and teach A Level and IGCSE courses in accordance with the Cambridge International syllabus. Teachers should use the course book adopted by the school for each course, and to supplement with any suitable resource material when necessary.
2. Familiar with SYSU-A Level program, ensure teaching quality, create positive learning environment.
3. Arrange appropriate assignments, periodic tests, review them and give clear and actionable feedback in time.
4. Recording attendance at lessons, and making steps to investigate absence; report prolonged or regular absence to class supervisors.
5. Prepare term report for students, including exam marks and teacher's comments.
6. Meeting with parents, discuss student's progress according to the school's arrangements. Those meeting are likely held after school hours or during the weekends.
7. Attend staff meetings, parents meeting, recruiting events, extracurricular activities and etc.
8. Stick to the center's regulations and rules, supervise students' learning and behavior.
9. Learn foreign universities' application procedures, provide necessary papers.
10. Being observed by the Academic Director, Subject coordinator and/or designated personnel for evaluation purposes and to get support, encouragement and feedback for teaching.
11. Providing useful suggestions to students regarding their university entry requirements and give recommendation letters when is needed.
12. Following set timetable for classes. Personal arrangements for replacements and switching classes are not allowed without management's consent.
