Date: Thursday, 12 June 2014, at 7:41 a.m.

Living and teaching in China is a unique opportunity - not just to be a tourist seeing the sights - but to become part of the lives of Chinese families and experience the intriguing ancient culture! The demand for the Chinese to learn English has never been greater, enabling us to offer you this chance to have a meaningful and educational work experience in a reputable school or kindergarten for five months and then a chance to travel freely for a month.

Who we are:
Recruiting hundreds of student volunteers for the past ten years, the Cathay Future Volunteer Program, in conjunction with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), is offering you a six month Volunteer Student Teacher Training Program for native English-speaking young people to gain work experience as they absorb the Chinese culture first hand, learn to communicate in simple Mandarin and enjoy the wonderful scenery, mouth watering food and famous ancient landmarks. The standard workload is from 28 to 32 teaching hours a week, and you will get at least two days off per week.
Full logistical support:
The good news is that we take the uncertainty and difficulty out of going to China. We take care of all the necessities before you arrive and meet you at the airport and continue to provide wide-ranging services after arrival, leaving you to enjoy your teaching experiences and close interaction with the local people.
Future career in teaching:
While learning to teach, you will also have the option & time to study a recognized TESOL course (Teaching English as a Second Language) complete with certificate, which would (visa permitting) enable you to stay longer than 6 months or apply for a full time job teaching in China. In fact, if you are considering a full time career of teaching in China, this program would be a terrific first step to give you hands-on experience, training, recommendations and suitable qualifications.

Program Details:

Teaching Periods:
1. March 1st 2015 to August 31st 2015 (Apply before January 2015).
2. September 1st 2015 to February 28th 2016 (Apply before June 2015).
-On acceptance to the program, we will help you with all the preparations & paperwork needed, and arrange a five month placement either in a kindergarten or in a language school for children in the city of Tianjin, China.
-Sometime after the first 2 months, your host will take all the volunteers on a free 5 day trip to visit the famous Terracotta Warriors in Xian
-During the last month of your stay, you will be free to travel anywhere you choose in China & your host will help you with your travel arrangements
-Free modern accommodation with other volunteers plus a monthly food allowance.

-On completion of the program, you will receive a Teacher Training Certificate and a letter of recommendation and character reference to help you with future employment in China or elsewhere.
-You would be responsible to pay for the Chinese visa, no criminal record check, obtain good health letter from doctor, travel insurance, TESOL course fee (optional) and recruitment administration fees, which would add up to approximately $1300 USD.
