Thinking about coming? You need to check with your doctor as to the recommended vaccinations for this area (Tetanus, Hep A&B, and Typhoid are recommended on the Aussie Traveller website), and do be warned that if you intend to travel to the south of China on your hols, some areas are in malarial hot-zones.
There are many options for getting here. No idea if you will pop back to Europe first, or if you will be flying from Melbourne , so will include lots of suggestions and you can see which fits:
a) Direct flight into Dandong , via Pudong Airport in Shanghai (flights depart 4 times per week {Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun}, less than a 2hr flight from memory and departure time from Shanghai is 13:10 if that is any help for connecting flight info). The airport is 15min down the road, and our smiling team will of course be on hand to greet you and whisk you to dump your bags, have a shower and then check out the area if you are not too jet-lagged. The flight code is CZ-6755, and baggage allowance is 20kg for checked in luggage. They are very strict about the checked in luggage weight (I’ve managed up to 24kg without being slugged with any additional fees), but I’ve never been checked for hand-luggage allowances, so if you have the need to bring a heap of stuff I suggest doing your best Sherpa impression and lugging it all on in different ‘Duty Free’ bags – the 8th wonder of this modern world in my view ;)
b) Arriving into any of the international airports ( Beijing , DaLian {which is a 3.5hr taxi journey away Y130 RMB}, Shenyang {which is a 3hr taxi journey away Y140RMB}) and then making your way to Dandong .
c) Public transport it here from anywhere around China - Beijing is an overnight journey away, Shanghai is 24hrs away by train. Just depends on you, the time-zone you just came from, your budget and timeframe plans for your stay in China (travel before or after working). Think that's about all we can offer information-wise right now, but if you have any specific questions please feel free to email us and we'll gladly answer them asap.
Our phone number is 0086 415 2161070/ 0086 415 2161072
