ABOUT ALLIANCE COLLEGE-READY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Alliance College-Ready Public Schools was founded 15 years ago on the belief that all children, regardless of ZIP code, are capable of achieving at high levels. Alliance is one of the largest and most successful nonprofit public charter school networks in the nation, operating 28 high-performing, tuition-free, open-enrollment middle and high schools in Los Angelesí educationally underserved communities. Alliance has a proven record of success for our 13,000 scholars and 14,000 alumni. Though our scholars come to Alliance on average four grade levels behind in reading, they outperform California state and local districts on state standardized testing in math and English Language Arts. Ninety-five percent of Alliance alumni have graduated from high school and been accepted to college, 73% to a four-year university. Our schools have been recognized among the best in the state and nation by U.S. News & World Report, Innovate Public Schools, the California Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of Education.
WHY TEACH AT ALLIANCE?
Alliance believes that all youth who enter our schools can reach their full potential when high expectations are matched with personalized instruction and support. We aspire to have 75% or more of our scholars complete a four-year college degree. To attain this goal, we provide teachers with the autonomy to adjust their practices to best meet the individual needs of their scholars. We also provide teachers with resources such as curriculum maps, a repository of instructional materials and videos, interim assessments and item banks, one-on-one teacher coaching, weekly professional development, and freedom to innovate. Teachers are able to focus on the individual needs of scholars due to small class sizes and ancillary resources, including English Learner and special education interventions, counselors, and instructional assistants.
The Alliance schools network is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. About two-thirds of our teachers and administrators identify as people of color. We believe in the importance of diverse role models for our scholars and the rich cultures of the families and communities we serve. Teaching at an Alliance school is an opportunity to inspire transformational change for scholars and their communities, while building lifelong, meaningful relationships.
