NON-FORMAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR Needed at Ritsona Refugee Camp, Greece

I AM YOU is a non-profit based in Greece that focuses on resolving real-time needs of the population it serves. The need can either be on going or momentary. The impact of solving a real need however is permanent.
Currently we are operating in one refugee camp within Central Greece. I AM YOU started in October 2015 in response to the immediate emergency needs of refugees arriving in Lesvos. We are a grassroots organization that believes in the power of people and that there is a better way of providing aid. Our mission is to serve displaced populations and fight prejudice, by putting our common humanity first.
Working with I AM YOU means that you will join a dynamic team of individuals who work together to support our mission while bringing a sense of humanity by improving the lives of displaced men, women and children. Our organization focuses on human-to-human aid, putting volunteers at the forefront of our work and building our organization from their skills and experience. We are currently looking for an Education Coordinator.

Job Purpose
The Non-Formal Education Coordinator will plan and implement I AM YOU’s education program reporting directly to the Field Coordinator. The main aim of the role is to ensure that a high standard of education excellence is being offered in areas identified as necessary in conjunction with the residents of the camp.

Accountability and Relationship
Reports to Field Coordinator
Manages: Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Education Volunteers
Works closely with all actors on site who provide an education component, residents, MoE REC, ECIP, Greek National Education Working Group, counterparts at other NGOs across Greece and the Social Media Volunteer

Main Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning
Prepare project plans
Design curricula in line with the needs of camp residents
Manage new ideas for further development

2. Project Management
Monitor current programs (attendance, quality, upkeep of learning spaces, student progression, use of resources)
Manage learning spaces and timetables
Oversee classes we facilitate but do not run

3. People Management
Oversee Education volunteers
Offer one to one support for teachers
Foster good working relationships between the Education team
Provide training opportunities for Education volunteers

4. Finance
Prepare program budgets
Oversee monthly spending
Report spending to Field Coordinator
Contribute to fundraising effort

5. Community
Conduct needs assessments to ensure IAY projects are in line with camp requirements
Do community outreach
Ensure mechanisms are in place to collect feedback from the community and feed this into project plans

6. External Communication
Networking and attending macro level education meetings
Coordinate with RECs
Coordinate with external partners (i.e. ECIP)

Skills and experience:
3 years teaching experience
Desirable to have education project management experience
Background in education policy and techniques is a plus
Ability to multitask across different projects
Proficient in English is a must
Comfortable using a computer and Microsoft Office or G-Suite

The successful candidate should be autonomous, dynamic, empathetic, thorough, an organized self-starter with solid interpersonal skills. It is also expected that the candidate will represent I AM YOU in all networking opportunities and ensure that any fundraising opportunity is acted upon.

General Considerations:
This role has admin which may require you to work off site (if possible)
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 24 years of age
Background check clearance
Working hours/day:
5 day week 9:30 - 16:30
Weekends off
Public holidays are discussed on an ad hoc/need basis

Important Information
The work is supported by a monthly stipend and the ideal candidate will be available for 6 months minimum. You are expected to pay for your own flights, meals and accommodation during your stay. I AM YOU sponsors its staff and volunteers with shared transport on location.
