English and Spanish Teachers for Global Voyage

Calling all teachers with a passion for peace-building and adventure! GET, Peace Boat's language training programme, is now accepting applications for volunteer English and Spanish language teachers for Peace Boat's 102nd voyage.

The 102nd Voyage will circumnavigate the globe visiting 23 ports in 20 countries, departing Kobe, Japan on September 1st, 2019 and returning to Yokohama, Japan on December 13th, 2019. You must also be able to participate in an orientation period which is scheduled to begin approximately one week prior to departure.

The deadline for the application is 17:00 JST (Japan Standard Time) on Friday, May 3rd, 2019. Interviews for international applicants are currently scheduled to take place via Skype between May 20-24, 2019, while those for national applicants are scheduled to take place at our Tokyo office on May 25th and 26th, 2019.

Conditions of employment:
This position is for enthusiastic, highly motivated, dynamic individuals with a minimum of 18 months of full-time teaching experience. Applicants should be highly advanced speakers of English or Spanish, although it is not necessary to be a 'native' or 'first language' speaker. Certification, graduate degrees and/or multi-language abilities are highly regarded, though not required. Please note: this is a volunteer position, but voyage expenses are covered (valued at approximately 1.7 million JPY or 15,300 USD).
