Instructor of English Position in Afghanistan

Contract: 12 months (rolling upon agreement)
Salary: Tax-free, competitive salary plus benefits including accommodation

The Professional Development Institute (PDI) offers a broad range of training and education courses to individuals, private business, governmental and non-profit agencies, and NGOs. The PDI draws on the expertise of the world-class faculty at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAf) to provide courses custom tailored to meet the client’s specific needs as well as courses offered on an open enrolment basis. This expertise includes English language, business administration, training and management, and information technology. 

Description: This is a 40-hour per week position (maximum of 20hrs per week for teaching, 20hrs per week for office related duties). The Instructor of English will teach courses offered by the English Language Center (ELC) Unit of the PDI and conduct administrative tasks as required. The courses include B1-C1 level general English classes along with EAP/ESP programs such as iBT TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, academic writing, and business communication. The Instructor will also be expected to contribute to curriculum development, assessment procedures, capacity and professional development activities, marketing exercises and quality assurance practices.

Native English speaker born and raised in an English speaking country such as the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, or New Zealand
Masters in Applied Linguistics, Education, English, TEFL/TESL or a closely related subject. Extensive experience may be considered in lieu
Minimum of four years international teaching experience preferably at tertiary level and including EAP/ESP courses
Must be able to deploy within one month of receiving an official offer
Ability to work in an insecure environment with certain limitations on social activities and recreational facilities
