KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
ESL Instructors set the standard for professionalism and foster an inclusive, positive learning environment at each site. Instructors are responsible for supporting students’ learning, and completing all required records and documentation. ESL Instructor accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following…

LESSON PLANNING AND CLASSROOM CONTENT
•Plan and execute engaging lesson plans for General English that incorporate reading, listening, speaking, and writing (with a focus on speaking) and are lively, challenging, fun and relevant to teen learners
•Create differentiated lessons for Plus! elective courses within one of the following elective topics: Leaders & Entrepreneurs, Broadway & Performance Arts, Fashion, Film & Multimedia Arts and American Sports
•Assist with and lead Wednesday Plus! trips for your assigned elective in NYC/Greater New York area
•Introduce and assess use of new vocabulary, functional language, and grammar through varied, student-centered, communicative activities
•Prepare daily lesson plans with clear lesson objectives that include engaging activities, incorporate technology, and culminate with a final weekly project
•Exhibit strong classroom management skills
•Work with Academic Manager and activity staff to develop weekly student projects and to prepare for the main student showcase

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
•Assist Academic Manager with administration of oral placement tests • Submit accurate attendance records daily, and weekly progress reports on time to Academic Manager

POSITION HOURS AND PROGRAM DATES: This is part-time, 5 day per week role for the duration of our seasonal program. Mondays require an early start to conduct placement testing at 8:30am. Students are in class from 9:00am-12:15pm at Iona College, and from 9:30am- 12:45pm in NYC. Administrative hours must be held onsite at Rennert International during normal business hours, and in adherence to your posted schedule.
To be considered for this role, candidates have full availability from June 24th – August 18th for our NYC program, and from June 24th – August 11th for our New Rochelle program. Candidates for both programs must be available beginning June 16th for paid training at the administrative rate of $14 per hour. Duration of employment is based on student enrollments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree and US work permit
•Ability to create differentiated content-based lessons for elective courses
•TESOL certificate, state teaching license, or Master’s degree is ESL or related field required
•At least 1 year of ESL teaching experience, with some prior experience teaching youth
•Demonstrated understanding of teenagers and appropriate teaching strategies
•Respect for and dedication to Rennert Teens mission, and working with students from varied backgrounds
•Strong self and time management skills, proven track record of leadership and problem-solving
•Enthusiasm, flexibility, patience and a dedication to the staff and students
•Proficiency in Word, Excel, Gmail and DropBox

If contacted for an interview, candidate must provide 4 references: at least 2 professional supervisors, and 2 references of your own choosing

COMPENSATION
16.25 hours of teaching per week at $20 per hour. Rennert International pays .75 hours of administrative pay, at the rate of $14 per hour, for progress report preparation each week. Activity hours will receive the activity pay rate of $13 per hour. Additional administrative pay is available for attending Rennert’s monthly professional development sessions and training.
