English Teaching Opportunity for Emerging Professionals in Colombia

The Atlas Corps opportunity is unique in the "market" of teaching abroad opportunities because participants will not only get excellent teacher training in Colombia but also you'll be connected to Atlas Corps' network of over 500 leaders from 89 countries!
The Atlas Corps Teaching Fellowship is an English teaching opportunity for emerging professionals. Our mission is to facilitate the development of a prosperous Latin America where children and youth have the opportunity to receive a high-quality bilingual education. Teaching fellows will be working with governmental agencies in Colombia including Ministries of Education, public schools, and local vocational training programs. The following potential 2018 programs will be a semester long program starting on January/February 2018.

Potential 2018 programs include:
Ministry of Education (MEN): co-teaching; public, secondary schools; placements throughout the country.
SENA: co-teaching; vocational schools; adult learners; placements throughout the country.
Secretaria de Educación (SED) de Barranquilla: co-teaching; public, primary schools; exclusively Barranquilla.
English for Opportunities (EFO) Program: co-teaching, private and independent schools; primary and secondary students; Bogotá, Isla Barú, Quibdó.
EFO programs include: Colsubsidio (a network of independent schools in Bogotá), Instituto San Juan de Dios (a private school in Bogotá), Fundación Mario Santo Domingo (a school serving the very vulnerable community of Santa Ana on Isla Barú) and Quibdó.

Note: THESE PROGRAMS ARE NOT CONFIRMED so HIGH FLEXIBILITY is of great importance for those interested in participating in the English Teaching Fellowship in Colombia. We hope to have specific details about 2018 programs by the end of 2017.

Eligibility for ALL programs:
At least ONE year of teaching experience and/or TEFL certificate
HIGH level of FLEXIBILITY and adaptability
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Clean Background Check
Age range of applicants is 21 to 50
English language skills, at native proficiency of C2 level equivalent.
We require English level proof for non-native speaker in the form of test results from either Cambridge, IELTS, or TOEFL.
Below are the qualifying scores:
Cambridge: C2
TOEFL: 96+
IELTSL 7.5+
Spanish language skills, at basic level or higher (we encourage all levels of Spanish to apply)
Interest and enthusiasm for serving in an educational environment.

What is provided in all programs?
~1,500,000 monthly COP stipend
Two week orientation, including extensive training in pedagogy/TEFL and training on logistics related to living in Latin America (visa, identification, bank accounts, mobile phones, and more)
Courtesy visa and ID
Local medical insurance
Transpiration from Orientation to your placement city
24/7 support from Regional Coordinators and staff
Certificate of program completion
Bonus upon completion of the program

Participants are responsible for:
$400 Program Deposit (returned upon completing Fellowship)
International health insurance (~$300)
Round trip ticket
