Travel and Teach With a Class of 2 - Spanish/English Speaking Elementary School Teacher - Utah/Mexico

A family in Utah is currently hiring an elementary school teacher for a unique full time teaching role for their two children - ages 6 and 7. This amazing opportunity involves travel with the family - including spending a significant portion of the year in Mexico. The successful candidate must be fluent in English and Spanish.

Recent B.Ed graduates and couples are welcome to apply, as are candidates outside the US provided the teacher already have a visa to work legally in the US. Couples may also apply.

Make the world your classroom - although based in the U.S. and Mexico, the family travels the globe and the teacher travels with them. Travel expenses are paid for in addition to the normal salary.

The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of educational theories, especially Montessori. The teacher will be skilled in curriculum design, able to identify the best parts of a range of curriculum in order to create a customized program. Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory. This is a long-term role, renewable on an annual basis. The successful candidate must be flexible, organized and an excellent record keeper.

The teacher must be comfortable with travel and taking the children to local exhibitions and sites of interest, and using their locations as a basis for their lessons. Although the children will be traveling extensively, it is important that they make and maintain friendships with other children.

The successful candidate should have a wide range of extracurricular skills and interests that they can share with the family and children. This can include anything from playing a musical instrument to recreational archery, knowledge about art history to a talent in cartoon creation. Being comfortable in nature from the mountains to the beach is critical as the family has a very active lifestyle that involves skiing, hiking, biking, swimming, etc. The successful candidate should be upbeat, energetic, kind and caring. The teacher should be a natural communicator, able to explain concepts simply and clearly, and able to encourage a love of learning in both children. The successful candidate should be interested in the world, and show enthusiasm for any given subject The teacher must be active and a non-smoker.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Required - Minimum B.S. or B.A
Prefer elementary education, early childhood development, or equivalent degree
Teacher certification and/or license preferred
Previous teaching experience preferred
Spanish/English speaking - required
First Aid and CPR certifications an advantage
Ability to relocate to Utah on an immediate basis
Must be a US citizen or eligible to work in the US

Salary and Benefits:

Full time position - 40 hours per week
Two days off per week (typically weekends - may vary when travelling)
17 days paid vacation per year, plus certain statutory holidays
Partial reimbursement for health/dental insurance
When traveling, expenses such as airfare, accommodations, and meals eaten with the family are paid for.
Opportunities for further education and professional development
Base salary from $35,000-$40,000 USD / year based on qualifications and experience
