Teaching Position Available
English for Dharma Purposes… Come teach monks English at a Buddhist Institute in Sarnath, India

We have an immediate opening for an ESL teacher at the Sarnath International Institute in Sarnath, India. We are looking for an experienced teacher for the period beginning September 30th through April 1st, 2015. Here are some particulars about the position:

The Sarnath International Nyingma Institute is located in Sarnath, where the Buddha gave his first teachings, and is about a half hour from Varanasi, one of India’s most holy cities along the Ganges River.

The Institute has just opened and it is a very peaceful and beautiful place. The Institute’s primary mission is to preserve Buddhist languages, art and culture. The goal is to bring some Tibetan scholars from Tibet, and teach them English so they can teach around the world.

Right now there are about ten adult monks enrolled in the class. They are delightful people, fun-loving and very eager to learn. The class may grow, but the number of students will not be more than 15. The teaching hours are about four hours a day in nice new classrooms. Most of them are beginners or intermediate level students. Room, board, and a stipend, is provided by the Institute, including excellent vegetarian meals three times a day.

We are looking for experienced, mature, native speakers to join our Institute to help build up this program.
