We don't train teachers -- we train great teachers. Visit http://tinyurl.com/kcd7dqy to learn how you can transform your academic background and professional experience into a high-impact career as a teacher in Arizona.
We seek outstanding candidates who are fluent in Spanish and want to apply that talent by working with Spanish-speaking students throughout Arizona.
You might be a native Spanish speaker who now wishes to give back as a teacher. You could be an accomplished recent graduate who majored in Spanish or developed fluency while studying abroad who now wants to share your expertise with bilingual students. Whatever your background, you believe that every student can excel and will do whatever it takes to help them get there.
Arizona Teaching Fellows provides an accelerated pathway into teaching for accomplished professionals and recent college graduates who possess the dedication and content knowledge to teach in some of Arizona's highest-need districts, including schools in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma and NE Arizona.
Great teachers have a huge and lasting impact on students' lives, and students grappling with the challenges of poverty need great teachers most. You may have built a successful career, and now wish to give back as a teacher. You could be an accomplished teacher who wants to add a new certification area to your license or a recent graduate who now wants to share your passion for learning with Arizona's students. Whatever your background, you believe that every student can achieve at a high-level and will do whatever it takes to help them get there.
We are extending our application deadline for Arizona Teaching Fellows for a limited time. We have already filled several subject areas, but are still accepting applications on a rolling basis for the following critical-need subjects: science, math, Spanish and special education. We strongly encourage candidates to apply this week, as site and subject area preferences continue to close for the season.
Take ownership: Fellows believe that every single student can excel academically, and they have the responsibility to get students there.
Crave feedback: They seek out and welcome advice from instructors, coaches and peers.
Commit to practice: They work deliberately to perfect new techniques that will improve their teaching.
Embrace challenges: They meet the daily challenges of teaching in a high-need school with determination and optimism.
Share their passions: They use their deep subject knowledge to ignite student interest, inspiring achievement and a real love of learning.
Benefits of Teaching in Arizona
"For me, the culture and power of practice during training really makes Arizona Teaching Fellows stand out from other programs. There's nothing better than being in a classroom with real students and getting to practice and perfect techniques while working with a cooperating teacher and a coach." --Thai Nguyen, 2010 Arizona Teaching Fellow
Stand out from the crowd: Adding a certification area makes you more competitive during hiring and will open doors to new opportunities -- in your current school or across the state.
Flexible Teaching Locations: Since Arizona Teaching Fellows partners with more than a dozen districts, Fellows can teach in major cities like Phoenix or Tucson, in a smaller town like Yuma, or in the rural Navajo communities in the high desert of Northeastern Arizona, where the entire district may consist of three schools along a dirt road.
Classroom-Centered Training: Our training is radically simple: focused practice on key skills to get teachers off to a strong start. With intensive summer training and ongoing coaching that continues throughout the first year in the classroom, Teaching Fellows practice, reflect, and improve until they master the craft of great teaching. Our expert coaches, local teachers with a wealth of classroom experience, will personalize their coaching to your experience level and development needs as you strive to become the best teacher you can be.
Certification that Counts: We hold the highest standards for certification of any program in the country. Upon graduating our program, Arizona Teaching Fellows are recognized not simply as certified teachers, but as having a proven track record of classroom success.
Support in the Hiring Process: Last year, 100% of Arizona Teaching Fellows found full-time positions. We expect Fellows to lead the process, but we provide critical support along the way.
Arizona Teaching Fellows is part of TNTP's national network of Teaching Fellows programs. Though our programs share a common mission, they are as unique as the communities they serve.
