British Qualified Nursery Nurses Needed in Guayaquil, Ecuador

Posted By: British School of Language <johngwarren@yahoo.co.uk>
Date: Saturday, 16 November 2013, at 11:45 a.m.

British School of Language (BSL) is a successful English language institute in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador. BSL employs about 30 native speakers from different countries (predominantly Great Britain) to teach English to Ecuadorians in a British cultural setting.
BSL has recently embarked on a new project to establish the first British nursery in Guayaquil. We anticipate that families from middle to upper class backgrounds will be attracted by child care offered in the English medium by British qualified professionals.
As this represents our first venture into child care we are keen to draw on the experience and knowledge of British qualified nursery nurses who will play a big role in shaping the programme.
Successful candidates must have one or more of the following child care qualifications or similar:
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education
BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development
NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development.
Duties will include;
providing physical, emotional and spiritual care to children aged 0 -6
coordinating play for children in a range of settings
supporting carers in the parenting of their children
developing play as a means of communicating information to children, to distract them during unpleasant procedures and to maintain their stage of development during illness or stress
maintaining the environment in a child friendly manner
maintaining toys and play equipment
finding ways to stimulate children particularly those with special and sensory needs
attending meetings
maintaining records
We are offering a salary of US $1000 (tax free), a visa, and free accommodation in return for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. There will be a $2500 bonus for completion of the two year contract and the option to work paid overtime.
The cost of living in Ecuador is relatively low and you will probably be able to save at least 50% of your income if you are not extravagant or wasteful.
Ecuador is a truly beautiful country. Located on the equator between Colombia and Peru, it is one of the most bio-diverse places on the planet. Due to its relatively small size, it is possible to visit the Amazon rainforest, the High Andes and the Pacific coastal lowlands very easily. The majestic Galapagos Islands are also just a 2 hour flight from Guayaquil.
It is not necessary to speak Spanish for the post, however, a willingness to learn the language and integrate into Ecuadorian culture with an open mind will be very important. Send CV and letter of application to John Warren johngwarren@yahoo.co.uk
