Job position: PDP instructor
Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education is seeking teacher trainers for a new Professional Development Programme. The programme is aimed mainly at secondary school teachers teaching subjects other than English. The programme will develop teachers' competence in English language, methods of teaching, action research and IT skills. This is a 6 month course. The course period is June-December, 2013.

Job Description
1 Teaching and Learning
1.1 Teach approximately 25 hours per week (this includes observation of trainees on NU premises and in high schools), classroom teaching, tutorials.
1.2 Complete all tasks associated with teaching and observation: lesson/observation preparation, setting and marking homework, marking assignments, maintaining teaching records, etc.
1.3 Review and contribute to the ongoing development of course syllabus as directed by the Programme Leader.
1.4 Develop and produce schemes of work and assignment guidelines as directed by the Course Coordinator, working individually or as part of a team.
1.5 Monitor student attendance and progress throughout the course and provide relevant feedback to the Course Coordinator as needed.
1.6 Offer student consultation regarding academic and personal/welfare issues as needed and delegated by the Course Coordinator.2 Course Assessment
2.1 Participate in the development of all ongoing course assessments as directed by the Course Coordinator.
2.2 Complete the marking and moderation tasks associated with 2.1 as directed by the Course Coordinator.
2.3 Contribute to the assessments/examinations of the relevant course(s), whether through the development of individual papers/proof-reading of final papers/exam invigilation/ examination marking and moderation, as directed by the Course Coordinator.
3 Quality Assurance
3.1 Appraise and evaluate the development of the course in relation to course aims at beginning and end of the course with the relevant team and Course Coordinator.
3.2 Liaise with team(s) and Course Coordinator(s) on an ongoing basis regarding course content and structure, assessments and examinations, and all other matters relating to the course as required.
3.3 Participate in all pre-course preparation and planning meetings and all end-of-course/post-course review and evaluation meetings as directed by the Course Coordinator.
3.5 Participate in all weekly/regular Course/Teaching Committee Meetings as directed by the Course Coordinator.4 Staff Development
4.1 Keep up-to-date with academic developments in the fields of English Language Teaching and Teacher Training through reading/participation in internal and external staff development opportunities/links with relevant professional bodies, etc.
4.2 Keep up-to-date with resources available in the Library, Resource Centre, etc. and contribute as necessary.
4.7 Participate in peer teacher observation.5 Administrative Duties
5.1 Maintain clear and effective records on registers and records of work as required by the Course Coordinator.
5.2 Write mid-course and end-of-course student reports as required by the Course Coordinator.
Qualifications and requirements:
* Fluency in English;
* Teaching experience in ESL/EFL environments;
* Master's Degree in an Education-related field;
* Classroom observation and assessment experience;
* Experience in Professional Development Programmes;
* Experience in course and syllabus design;
* Knowledge and experience of CLIL would be advantageous.
Successful candidates will have the necessary organizational and interpersonal skills to work successfully in helping to shape and develop a new course within a developing international environment.
