Come teach English as a part of nationally sponsored program this January 2010! Costa Rican English for Sustainable Tourism (CREST) emerged from President Oscar Ariasí initiative, Costa Rica Multiling¸e, which seeks to improve the competitive environment of the country by increasing the number of English speakers in Costa Rica by 2017. CREST was established in 2009 with the enthusiasm of 5 volunteers, but our goal is to have more than 300 in the first five years. Our program grows with the commitment of volunteers worldwide and the support of both national and international organizations.
Job description:
Volunteers will live with host families in rural communities for a period of 6 months or more, and will be responsible for 20 hours of class time and 20 hours of preparation. Our program is unique in that we serve the tourism sector where there is an immediate need for English acquisition. Our volunteers serve as teaching assistants in technical high-schools or as community teachers instructing professionals from the sustainable tourism sector.Qualifications:
* University degree* TEFL (or the equivalent) certified or years of Teaching experience
* Independence
* Willingness to adapt
* Proficient English speaker
* Organization and responsibility
* Experience living in another country
* Commitment to service
* Ability to relate and communicate well to others
Because we have received the sponsorship of various Costa Rican Institutions we have a low program cost of $1250 for 6 months and $1750 for 12 months. Program fee includes:
* 3 meals a day* Lodging
* Transportation from San JosČ to your community and any events sponsored by ALIARSE
* Teaching materials
* Ongoing technical support and visits
* A 5 day intense orientation program
* Volunteer visa
