Senior Positions Available at ILA Vietnam (3 positions)
Position 1: Academic Manager – Danang

The Academic Manager will manage ILA Danang, located in beautiful Danang city. Located on the 2nd floor of a modern office building, this centre has seventeen classrooms and a fully equipped computer lab for students and resource and support centre for teachers. The centre offers programmes for young learners, adults and corporate clients as well as some exams classes.

Scope

The Academic Manager is responsible for the day to day management and development of teachers on all teaching programmes as well as teaching responsibilities. The main focus is teacher management and quality control. Support and training is provided by the Senior Academic Manager.

The teaching load of the AM is expected to be about half a full schedule, 10-12 hours per week as well as scheduled level testing.

The ILA Adult programmes in Danang has approximately 80 part-time students. The Young Learner Department has approximately 270 part-time students. The centre currently has around 9 teachers.

• Teacher observations / appraisals / quality control

• Teaching and substitute teaching
• Other academic and administrative duties as requested

Requirements

• DELTA / Masters in TESOL or equivalent – (part completion may be considered)
• 3 years’ teaching experience (including experience with young learners)
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
• A great deal of energy and enthusiasm
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Experience working within reputable language teaching organizations
• Experience as an Academic Manager / Director of Studies is desirable but not essential as training and support will be provided.

Remuneration and Benefits

ILA Vietnam offers a highly competitive financial and benefits package which is based on qualifications and experience as well as the responsibility of the position.

There are 4 salary scales, ranging from $33,600 to $45,900 usd gross per annum.

Training

Initial training and on-going support will provided by the Senior Academic Manager in HCMC as well as an initial period in Danang.

Position 2: Assistant Academic Manager – HCMC1
An exciting new role has opened up within the Academic Management team; we are now looking for a full-time Assistant Academic Manager. The role will be based in our Ho Chi Minh City 1 training centre on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 3.

The successful applicant will assist with teacher management for both English for Adults and English for Young Learners programmes, reporting to the Academic Manager [Rachel Agnew].

Scope:
The Assistant Academic Manager will be part of a team which strives to deliver the best possible environment, resources and support for its teachers to ensure that the highest quality of teaching is delivered to our students.

This person will assist with the day to day management of teachers. We currently have approximately 1,000 adult students, and approximately 4,700 younger learners, with a teaching staff of around 100.

This role would be ideal for an individual looking to gain the training and experience to become an Academic Manager of their own training centre in the future. ILA is expanding and numerous opportunities are expected to arise over the next 12 - 24 months in various locations.

Position 3: Academic Coordinator – HCMC5

We are looking for an Academic Coordinator to work in our HCMC 5 branch in district 5. This centre opened in August 2007, with 18 classrooms over one floor of a busy shopping, lifestyle and entertainment complex. The centre is mainly focused on Young Learners but also has some Adult classes. There are currently 22 full time teaching staff, 8 administration staff and around 1200 students.

Academic Coordinators split their time between teaching and providing support to teachers. This position will be approximately half teaching and half academic support.

Scope:
The role involves giving ongoing support to teachers including inducting new teachers, helping teachers with resources, and assistance with preparing lessons. The role will also include some development of resources and teaching materials as well as conducting workshops and designing tests.

This role would be ideal for an individual looking to gain the qualifications, training and experience to become an Assistant Academic Manager or Academic Manager in the future. ILA is expanding and numerous opportunities are expected to arise over the next 12 - 24 months in various locations.

• Planning and delivering teacher development sessions (training and support provided)
• Development and upkeep of supplementary resources
• Upkeep of tests and resources

• Teaching / substitute teaching
• Other academic and administrative duties as requested by the Academic Manager.

Requirements:
• University degree
• DELTA / Masters in TESOL or equivalent preferred. [Applicants joining the 2010 DELTA are welcome to apply].
