No hangman games
After playing the game "Hangman" one of my students approached me at break time with a very sad look. He asked why Americans would make a game out of something as terrible as hanging a person. during our conversation I learned that he had observed two hangings of family members in Bosnia. Since then it has been the goal of myself and my colleagues to change this game to something positive, such as "creating a life" instead of destroying one. I draw a large circle on the board and add ears, eyes, nose, etch when students have the wrong response. Sandra Marttinen, El Dorado Hills, CA
