Susan's singing solution
![]()
When students are late to class, there are a lot of different ways to handle the problem. If nothing else seems to work, here's one way that has worked well for me. At the beginning of the term, I tell the students that if they are late to class, they have to sing a song in front of the whole class. Most students are terrified enough that they don't risk coming late! When a student is late, the rest of the class will help you to enforce the rule: "sing, sing, you have to sing!" It's fun, keeps the students involved as fellow punctuality enforcers, and we all enjoy the occasional serenading:) Susan Davis, Sanford, Florida
