
Geographical Group Formation

I sometimes like to use geographical information as the
basis for forming groups or pairs. With pairs, I might
randomly distribute slips of paper with either the name of
a U.S. city or a U.S. state on each one, then instruct
students to find a student who "matches" their information.
You can do the same thing with countries and capital cities.
For small groups, you can list four cities within a country
on the slips of paper and have everyone find group up by
