This idea has worked well with groups too. I prepare a brown paper bag or an envelope for students, with the title "Vocabulary Bag" written on it. They also have some colored slips of paper. I explain that at any moment of the class, at any time, they may write on the slips of paper a word or expression they have learned that class, which they consider to be important and easily forgotten. After some time we open the bag and review those words/expressions in different ways ( game, written exercise, etc...)
That's a great way to review vocabulary. Besides that, students learn to be selective about the vocabulary they learn, in fact they decide what they want to learn ___ that's a great contribution to learner autonomy.
