Oral Tennis

Home Main Submit Contents Recipes

Here is a fun way to review past tense verbs, both regular and irregular. Play a game of oral tennis.

Divide the class into two sides and ellicit present tense verbs from the class and/or add what you would like to teach. One person starts . S/he serves by saying one of the words and then then other player on the other team has 8 seconds (or whatever) to answer with the past tense verb. That student, if successful, then keeps the ball in play by selecting another word. Use the scoring system of tennis. This game works well with teaching the containers/amounts that food comes in (i.e bunch of, can of, bottle of etc) if you put the food names on the board. Hope it works for you.
